I have a box with an outlet at one end and four inlets into which I feed four different gases (two of the gases enter through large pipes with large mass flow rates and two of them enter through small pipes with small mass flow rates).

The problem I have is that the two gases going through the small pipe start to enter the box but then get suppressed by the gases with the larger mass flow rates which flood the box and are unable to proceed further (as shown in the attached image).

Is there some kind of backflow going on?

How do you detect it / what makes you think so?
