Spurious minima for inlet Mach number distribution

Dear all,
Please see the image attached. I am simulating a 2D turbine passage with pulsating inlet conditions, using stagnation inlet condition. P0 and T0 pulsate with time, as seen in the graphs in the image. P and T are also periodic. There is a problem with the inlet Mach number distribution. The orange curve in the image attached shows the correct inlet Mach number obtained by simulation (outlet conditions of a rotating detonating engine), you get the same distribution if you were to calculate it from isentropic relations. I suspect that the spurious minima (seen in the blue curve) of the inlet Mach number could be due to reflection at the inlet. I'm not sure why the Mach number has this problem while the stagnation and static P and T are fine. Thank you mnws |
