Greetings,

How do I deal with poor face quality regions? To give a better understanding of my question, I have attached a photo where the surface repair tool shows some regions with poor quality. In those regions, the mesh quality is lacking as well.

How can repair those faces with poor quality?

Thanks a lot!
Qais

It's a so-called "tesselated mesh" - i.e. triangulated representation of the geometry and it's ok for it to have "yellow" or "orange" (i just don't remember by heart what they are .. proximity .. quality?) faces.
This mesh has almost nothing to to with resulting mesh. You can improve it by right-clicking the part in the tree and selecting "Re-Tesselate".

The surface represented this way is remeshed to (hopefully) good triangles representation later by the Automatic Surface Remesher which is actually used for construction of volume mesh.

Thanks a lot for the reply and clarification cwl! I really appreciate it.

Please see this photo https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkCnaOk1rReF4AS2...LKacy?e=WA0SxY

The automatic surface remesher is giving good quality cells in all regions except the part as shown in the attached picture (which is where the bad face quality exists). As you can see, the picture show that at certain cells the skewness angle is almost 90 deg which are really bad quality and they are also affecting the quality of the prism layers as well. I tried refining the surface mesh but the issue is not resolved. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

Thanks again,
Qais Khraisat

The link to the image doesn't work.
Try uploading it somewhere else.

UPD And now the link works fine .. strange.

That is volume mesh representation. The issue might be either in remeshed surface mesh or in fact that trimmed mesher cannot mesh the geometry well so trying polyhedral cell might make sense, maybe with some local refinement.

And that's the volume mesh representation. Not the surface mesh.
I am guessing however that you could try to refine the mesh around that leading edge (or whatever that is), allow the cells to get smaller in that part of the geometry.

Also, do you think that this could cause instabilities in the solution?
