Hey Guys,
I am starting out with ANSYS workbench and trying to model a contact problem between snaps. I am somehow unable to simulate contact between the two parts, the parts simple pass through each other and I am not able to figure this out. I was thinking that this might be because that the analysis is decoupled but I have defined the contacts again and I am not sure why this is happening. It is like the other part does not exist so my contact stiffness and contact algorithms are default. Somebody please help... I am unable to attach the zip file as it exceeds the limit |

How are you defining your contacts?

I choose the contact edges on the snap feature below and target edges on the snap feature above.
I choose program controlled which i believe uses Pure Penalty approach. I redid the whole exercise and it seems to work fine now. I am trying out certain variations and I anticipate to face the same issue again. So I still want to find out why something like that can happen. Is it necessary to have no initial separation in the geometry file ?? |
