hi
can someone tell me what are the "Sens_Geo" and "Sens_Mach" in the output panel of adjoint solver???? I run a simulation on a wing and the solution converged then I start to solve the adjoint equation on the wing based on my DIRECT solution but the results start with: Iter Time(s) Res[Psi_Rho] Res[Psi_E] Sens_Geo Sens_Mach 0 0.335698 -9.422478 -9.243707 -nan -1.5549e+00 1 0.232885 -9.426170 -9.363427 -nan -1.5549e+00 2 0.198407 -9.392976 -9.459169 -nan -1.5548e+00 3 0.181925 -9.337077 -9.501358 -nan -1.5547e+00 4 0.171282 -9.270354 -9.496617 -nan -1.5541e+00 5 0.164332 -9.203050 -9.473890 -nan -1.5525e+00 6 0.159747 -9.140634 -9.450188 -nan -1.5486e+00 7 0.156732 -9.084382 -9.429527 -nan -1.5407e+00 8 0.154287 -9.033519 -9.411246 -nan -1.5263e+00 I dont know that what are Sens_Geo Sens_Mach? can someone plz give an explanation |

Hi mlooti,
I am not sure why you are getting NaNs for the second last column, but here is what I believe the two columns mean: Sens_Geo: This would be the derivative of your objective function with respect to a design variable which perturbs the specified boundary in the outward normal direction (i.e. away from the interior). Sens_Mach: This would be the derivative of your objective function with respect to the flow Mach number. Best, Mandar |

Hi Tom,
to be more precise Sens_Geo is the integral (in the continuous case) or the sum (in the discrete case) of the sensitivity in normal direction on ALL solid boundaries (i.e. HEAT_FLUX, ISOTHERMAL and EULER/SYM). |
