I have written a code for a portion of the mesh, and rest was produced by pointwise. Then I concatenated the two file to produce one .su2 file. Now when i am running the file in parallel with 16 cores, su2 is not writing the restart_flow.dat file, only solution_flow.csv is produced. Does anyone has a solution for this. What is the issue?

I had the same problem, it seems like you have missed an option in the .cfg file which helps in writing the solution_flow.dat and flow.dat files. The alternative for obtaining the solution_flow.dat and flow.dat file is by restarting the whole calculations. I followed the below steps:
1. Restart = YES
2. Reduce the Total number of Iterations to 50 iterations (not necessarily 50, but you may give your own number, as my solution was already converged I gave 50)
3. Rename the Restart_flow.dat file to solution_flow.dat in your directory (Or you can change the Restart File in the .cfg to restart_flow.dat instead of solution_flow .dat)
4. Run

After completing the Run, you shall get the solution_flow.dat and flow.dat files.

One more way is:
If you are running it in parallel mode using phBash filem, change the command to CFD SOL, (dont remember the commands exactly, but you can try by checking your command lines) and RUN the calculations. I hope you will get the solution_flow.dat and flow.dat files.

I hope this may help

The command is SU2_SOL, you should be able to run it using the same config file to get the *.dat output.

First, check the name of the file specified by RESTART_FLOW_FILENAME, that is where the name of the file is specified (usually restart_flow.dat).
Check the output - did it run any iterations? Did it output an error after writing surface_flow.csv?
If the problem is that it is not producing the flow.dat file (the file with the flow solution and variables of interest like Mach and Cp) rather than not writing a restart file, then the advice below should work.

I am unable to generate the solution_flow.dat file, and this thus does not allow me to run the SU2_CFD_AD command successfully.

The error is given in the image below as an attachment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Angu

Hi Angu,

If you have not changed them, when SU2 runs it will generate a restart_flow.dat. You will need to rename this to solution_flow.dat to run restarts or SU2_SOL.
Hope this helps.
