Dear all,

Is it possible open a paraview file (xx.vtu) in Tecplot?

Thank you in advance.

I am not aware of how to move VTK (*.vtu) data into Tecplot 360.

Tecplot is considering creating a VTK data loader. Is this something that would be of value to the CFD community?

Is there a particular type or version of VTK format that we should focus on for the loader?

Thanks,
Scott

Tecplot is currently working on a VTU data reader for use with Tecplot 360 EX. If you have sample data files that you can share to us for testing or would like to try a beta version of the loader, then please send an email to s dot rumage at tecplot dot com to make the arrangements.

Thanks in advance for your help in this work,
Scott

Hi Scott,

I tried to load a sampled surface with VTK format into tecplot 2017, but it did not work and this error message appeard:

VTK Data Loader: An error occurred while reading data from the VTK file.
Reason: Start tag expected.

Could you indicate how to resolve this error?

Regards,
Ehsan

Nope! Unfortunately Tecplot is not very useful with the popular and fast-growing vtk format. I found a workaround to do the same job using a combination of paraview and blender.
