ESI US R&D, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and 
enthusiastic application engineer excited by the possibility of pushing the 
envelope in high-tech applications of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) 
simulations for its San Jose, CA office. The engineer will don multiple hats 
which includes providing technical support, consulting and training services 
to internal and external customers, acting as a liaison to ESI’s sales and 
marketing team, and assisting in business development by identifying 
potential opportunities for software sales and consulting services. This 
position will require both technical and soft skills to publish technical 
papers, make presentations showcasing ESI’s capabilities at conferences and 
to potential customers, attend trade shows, build and maintain customer 
relationships, prepare project proposals, and provide quality assurance 
support to the product development team.

Education and Required Experience
•	Minimum Education Required: Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering 
or a related discipline (Plasma Physics, Materials Science, Electrical 
•	Good understanding of reactive flows, heat transfer, homogeneous and 
heterogeneous chemical kinetics and electromagnetics.
•	Good understanding of plasma physics and plasma simulation 
technologies (particle based / kinetic / hydrodynamic / hybrid models).
•	Good understanding of wafer processing techniques and concepts.
•	Minimum 2 years of experience (beyond graduate education) hands-on 
running reactor scale simulations (preferably using commercial software) for 
plasma processes such as Etch, Dep, Clean.
•	Required skills - excellent communication, time management, work 
ethic, and organization.
•	Necessary values – collegial, highly motivated, enthusiastic, quick 

Essential Functions
1.	Apply technical knowledge of ESI’s proprietary CAE tools to provide 
the first-line technical support to customers. Analyze test results to 
provide a solution or diagnose a failure.
2.	Provide in-depth training to customers on ESI’s proprietary CAE 
3.	Prepare software technical specifications, quality assurance (QA) 
documents and other technical documentation.
4.	Assist in the preparation of formal technical papers and other 
technical publications.
5.	Conduct market research. 
6.	Benchmark ESI products against competitor products. 
7.	Advise Product Management staff of all opportunities for alternative 
or new technology products and services that can help ESI stay ahead of 
competition in providing high quality CAE software and services.
8.	Attend and present papers at conferences and trade shows.
9.	Act as a technical liaison.
10.	Identify and propose engineering projects and training using ESI 
simulation software, including but not limited to: 
a.	Engineering application projects, where existing ESI technologies 
are applied to customer applications using analysis and computer aided 
engineering to fix or identify a problem they have experienced;
b.	Conducting innovative or Special Projects, where new applications of 
ESI’s simulation software products need to be developed for specific and 
often more challenging applications as described by customer.
