The offshore energy and marine system group at Shanghai Jiao Tong University
(SJTU) is now seeking several Postdoctoral Research Associates in fluid mechanics. 
Requirements for this appointment include:
(1) PhD degree (received or expected) in mechanical engineering, aerospace
engineering, oceanography, fluid mechanics, or related fields.
(2) Strong and demonstrated experience in fluid dynamics research-be proficient
at using at least one type of modeling method, e.g., LES, DES, SPH, primitive
equations type of regional or global scale ocean/ atmospheric modeling method.
(3) Good publication in peer-reviewed academic journals, strong verbal
communication skills.
(4) A commitment to excellence and an ambition to succeed in a research career.
The group is a diverse team including people from Japan, US, Canada and China.
English is the working language in the group (candidates do not need to
understand Chinese).
In this group, there are multiple world class testing facilities including:
1) A multiple function towing tank with a scale of 300 meter long, 16 meter wide
and 7.5 meter deep;
2) A cavitation tunnel with a 6M x 1M x 1M testing area;
3) A wind-wave-current circulation tank and many others as well as advance
measurement and diagnostic devices.
The group is led by Dr. Ye Li, professor, Department of Naval Architecture and
Ocean Engineering (NAOE), School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil
Engineering, SJTU.
Dr. Ye Li is internationally recognized for his expertise in offshore renewable
energy and for his extensive works in theoretical, numerical and experimental
studies on tidal and wave energy. He is an associate editor of ASME Journal of
Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, Renewable Energy, Renewable Energy
and Sustainable Energy Review, AIP Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy
and many others. Prior to joining SJTU, he was the ocean modeling effort leader
and a senior scientist at U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
Other faculty members in the group at SJTU include those from School of Naval
Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering and
School of Electrical Engineering.
NAOE has been ranked No.1 in China for decades amongst ocean engineering
programs in the country, and one of the leading ocean engineering research
programs in Asia. Established in 1896, SJTU is the oldest university in China.
It is a member of C9 group (the China’s equivalence to Ivy League in US),
comprising nine national prestigious universities such as Tsinghua University
and Peking University. Today SJTU has 31 departments, 63 undergraduate programs,
250 master’s degree programs, 203 Ph.D. programs, and 11 state key laboratories
and national engineering research centers. Its total enrollment of students
amounts to 42,881, of which 1,598 are international students.
You should have a doctorate or equivalent, with a good research and publication
record. A typical postdoc term is 2-3 years at SJTU. For further information,
