Description: | |
Applications are invited from Indian nationals only for project position(s) as per the details given below for the consultancy/research project(s) under the Principal investigator (Name: Prof. Krishnendu Sinha), Department of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. 1. Title of Project: Ventilation CFD to determine the optimum placement of minimum sensors 2. Project Details: This project aims to use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to determine the airflow circulation in indoor spaces and identify recirculation zones that trap infectious particles. Reactor Model framework-based Infectivity Modelling: A well-mixed room is considered a CSTR (continuous stirred tank reactor) model wherein the air is mixed homogeneously throughout the enclosed space. Using various equations such as wells-Riley equations (models’ risk of infection due to airborne particles) will be studied and CFD model-based infectivity will be determined in different zones. The different zones will determine the areas where the risk of infection is higher and where the risk of infection is lower with the existing ventilation system and how the changes in intervention can reduce the higher infectivity risk zones. The project has potential applications in controlling the spread of infectious diseases in indoor settings and optimizing ventilation systems. 3. Project Duration: 2 Years 4. Project position(s) and number: Project Research Associate – 01 No. 5. Essential Qualification and Experience: MTech/ME or Equivalent degree in Aerospace Engineering /Mechanical Engineering/Chemical Engineering (preferred) /Environmental science and engineering a.Knowledge and experience in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) b.Exposure and interest in software tools such as ANSYS Fluent. c. analytical and problem-solving skills. d.Data processing and Analysis. e.Good communication, writing, and teamwork skills. Desirable: a.The candidates with Proficiency in fluid mechanics, CFD, and design and Analysis software like PRO-E, CATIA, SolidWorks, Ansys, OpenFOAM, and Linux will be given preference. b.Knowledge and experience in infectivity modelling for indoor ad shared spaces. 6.Job Description We are seeking an experienced candidate to join our team. This will include, but not be limited to the following: a.Use a reactor model framework to determine the infectivity of indoor spaces. b.Provide recommendations for the optimum placement of sensors (PM, CO2, etc.) based on the results. c.Validate the CFD model predictions with sensor data obtained from other sub- projects. d.Collaborate with a team of researchers to optimize the operation of interventions required to improve ventilation and energy usage. e.Generating and presenting viable reports of the analysed data. f.Support the research of faculty and staff associated with ventilation work. 7.Pay Details: Level PR-O1: Salary ranges from Rs.33600 to Rs 67200 + Rs.6250.00/- Out of Campus Allowance (if applicable) p.m. 8.
