CFD-DEM Group at School of Qilu Transportation of Shandong University is seeking
a highly motivated individual to work on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and
its coupling with Discrete Element Method (DEM). Shandong University is ranked
around 20th in China and 200-300th worldwide by Academic Ranking of World
Universities. The School is working on transportation and civil engineering, and
urban underground space engineering. School has one engineering research center
of the Ministry of Education, two national key laboratories, six provincial
engineering technology centers, twelve research centers, and has three doctoral
stations, including geotechnical engineering, disaster prevention and mitigation
engineering and protection engineering, bridge and tunnel engineering.
Group Leader:
Professor Kaiwei Chu is a Distinguished Professor and leading the CFD-DEM group
at Shandong University, China. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of
New South Wales (UNSW) Australia. He is specialized in the modelling and
simulation of complex particle-fluid flows that are ubiquitous in nature and
industries and “Kinematics of particle or granular materials” is one of the 125
most challenging scientific issues published by science in 2005. He carried out
extensive pioneering work to elucidate the fundamentals of complex particle
fluid flows by developing and applying combined approach of computational fluid
dynamics and discrete element method (CFD-DEM) and published more than eighty
(80) articles in well reputed SCI journals and international conferences. Among
the 2997 articles on the topic of CFD-DEM in Web of Science, Professor Chu has
published four (three of them as a first author) of top 10 cited articles (data
from March 1, 2023). He is also the first author of seven “Top-25 Hottest
Articles”. He is a highly cited researcher with total citations of 4189, H-index
of 28 and i10-index of 39, visit https://scholar.google.com.au/citations?
