DNS, RANS & Turbulent Modeling In CFD

Posted October 29, 2015 at 01:41 by adarsh tiwari

Hi, Guys! My last blog ď2 Funny Cases In CFDĒ was to chill you up, as mechanics is not only about serious topics and discussion. Mechanical people can also have fun while they work (for professionals ) and learn and study (for students ). Todayís topic is very interesting as I am going to discuss Turbulence Modelling.

Though I will keep on talking and you will keep on reading, as we proceed 😀 😀 , I will try not to bore you, and keep you engaged. At any point...

2 Funny Cases In CFD

Posted October 28, 2015 at 07:17 by adarsh tiwari

In my previous blogs, we had put special emphasis on saying that learning some software is not CFD. You need to have a sound knowledge about the basics of the subject then only you can validate the results.

Today, letís see an example where the two different cases of same geometry and condition will give two different meaning to CFD. But, let me first warn you, this could be little more technical for first few lines afterwards, you can enjoy the meaning.

3 Approaches To Fluid Mechanics

Posted October 28, 2015 at 07:01 by adarsh tiwari

In my previous blog, I had talked about the interpretation of CFD concepts and my discussion was limited to the nature of solution obtained from CFD simulations. In this blog letís talk about the nature of solutions and its interpretations in real-world applications.

As we look into the classical approach of fluid mechanics, we will see that there were two approaches for the determination of fluid phenomenon. Letís look into these three approaches in detail.

The 1st...

SIMULATION SCIENCE and COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS

Posted October 5, 2015 at 05:13 by adarsh tiwari

The wheel invented centuries ago has now taken speed. World today is fast moving with new product extensively coming in to replace the existing product. Experimentation is always necessary to introduce a product. Only experiments can validate the theory and purpose of a product. However, experimentation is not very easy and cheaper. The increasing cutting-throat competition in the world is driving the business leaders to find a new and cheaper way to assist, if not replace, the need of experimentation....

Validation of supersonic flow over a flat plate using rhoCentralFoam

Posted August 11, 2015 at 08:16 by geojim

Hi,
i am trying to validate openfoam solver rhocentralfoam by running the case of supersonic flow over a flat plate. My freestream flow conditons are MachNumber =2, Pinf =0.01181, Tinf=226.5.
