CD-adapco to Demonstrate STAR-Works, the SolidWorks Embedded Flow and Thermal Simulation Tool, at SolidWorks World 2006

London and New York, January 18, 2006: The latest version of STAR-Works, the only truly CAD-embedded CFD tool for SolidWorks, will be unveiled at SolidWorks World 2006 from January 22nd - 25th, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada. CD-adapco, the developers of STAR-Works and the world renowned STAR-CD and STAR-CCM+ CFD codes will be demoing the STAR-Works in Booth 209.

In the highly competitive environment of industry today, up-front simulation has become a competitive necessity, allowing users to confirm design assumptions and predict product performance early in the product design process. STAR-Works, part of STAR-CAD Series, has been created specifically to enable Design and Project engineers to undertake basic flow simulation, even if they are lacking experience in traditional Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. The product continues to revolutionize flow simulation by maintaining operability whilst introducing additional capabilities and productivity enhancements.

STAR-Works is embedded within your the SolidWorks environment. CFD functionality is presented as additional easy-to-use menus within SolidWorks. Because the CFD solution becomes an integral part of the SolidWorks CAD model, full associativity with the model is maintained throughout the simulation process, so that any design changes made in response to simulation results are reflected in the solution almost immediately. Solutions are updated at the click of a button without additional user intervention.

STAR-Works V4.02 is packed with user-driven new features and enhancements. This new version features numerous new capabilities that broaden the spectrum of solution possibilities, such as the addition of new boundary conditions and external thermal treatment. User productivity by a new volume meshing strategy for assemblies, faster mesh generation and solver speeds, and improvements to the turbulence modeling that reduce grid sensitivity. The reporting of engineering quantities has been improved with the addition of a HTML based reporting. Interactive, 3D results scenes can now be sent direct to your manager or client with a freeware visualization utility, enabling their fast and efficient communication of flow simulation data.

“Design Engineers need tools that have the required simulation capabilities, are robust, fast and accurate, intuitive and integrated within their design environment. I am confident that STAR-Works V4.02 will enable our users to extract the highest value from our solutions,” said Jean-Claude Ercolanelli, CD-adapco’s Product Manager for the STAR-CAD Series. "The ability to shorten the product development cycle translates into dramatic savings at the bottom-line. STAR-Works customers will benefit from better product performance in less time, at lower costs, with less physical testing.”

As ever the CD-adapco name can be relied upon to ensure you extended CFD simulation capability as your product complexity increases. This is the full-spectrum CFD solution uniquely provided by CD-adapco.
