Thanks. I already have read this thread. But I don't understand how to launch Ansys Meshing in parallel.
I know that in Fluent or in ICEM I can specify the number of the processors. Can I do this launching Workbench and working in Ansys Meshing? |

I mean I set in >>tools >>> options >>>common settings >>> Parallel processing. I set 11 core but in the " Task manager" still show cpu usage is 1

This is just what I have heard. My guess is that v 14.5 comes in August or in September. I am looking forward to the parallell functionality !

Hi I am using Ansys 14.5.7 and i have the same problem like ch_ohm. Set up to parallel but still meshing in sigle mode... What's the use for the parallel settings? Is there no chance to mesh parallel now with 14.5.7?

Hello all,
Parallel meshing has been a new feature in Ansys 15. It was not available before. Now one can assign particular no. of cores in meshing a model. the requirement is minimum 2 Gigs of RAM per core. so if you have a 4 core processor, you would need minimum 8 Gigs of RAM. It has been reported that already Ansys 15.0 meshing is around 3-4 times faster (of course depends on model and method). but it is definetly faster than the previous versions. cheers, Lamboram P.S: You dont need HPC license to access this feature ![]() Last edited by lamboram; January 22, 2014 at 07:33. Parallel meshing in v15 is on by default and has been said is unconnected with HPC packs. It takes the form of assigning different parts to different processors, so may not show any extra improvement if you only have one part!.
It is definitely worth while making sure that the number of processors active is less than the number you have on your machine, if you want to use it for anything else at the same time as you mesh. The new changes in the mesher are really very impressive though |

Has anyone got this to work? I have specified the number of processors in ICEM 15 and from the workbench in mechanical APDL and from within the meshing modeler. But it still only uses about 14% of my CPU........

Hello,
Parallel meshing in v15.0 works for more parts. If your model is only one part, it won't run. At least it did not work for me (it used only one core). You can split the model in different parts and it will work ![]() Hope this helps a bit ![]() |

Hello Folks,
I am trying to use Ansys meshing 15.07 for the physical preference of CFD. I set number of CPUs for parallel meshing to 11. My machine has 30 cores but it does not seems Ansys uses more than 1.(task manager) Any idea would be appreciated! |
