Hello !
I want to create a single volume with two different types of mesh. At the boundaries i want to create mesh as dense as i can and after i want to size the mesh . How can i do that thing ? ![]() (see picture below) |

it's doable. I'm not very experienced with ansys meshing since i don't know how density feature works, but i'm sure you can achieve that using density. in icem you create a density by giving it a location -here it will be the 8 corners of your refined inner box-. since i don't know how it works in ansys meshing, i will say build you box. make two horizontal slice. you then end up with 3 bodies. click right button and form new part.
back in the ansys meshing, select the inner box, and right button click, insert-» sizing, and give it a small sizing compared to max size. or insert density (i really don't know). you can get some results from what i just said by tweaking it a little bit. or wait for the experst in ansys meshing to come... |

Thanks ! a lot
i am trying to slice a single body into two bodies. Everything i was trying with slice mode didn't work and i can't create second body (slice with plane and slice with face ) |

Hello ! i want to separate the voulme in two different zones in order to create different mesh at each zone.
But i want to have one body and no two after the separation how can i do this ? |

ANSYS Meshing has the "Sphere of Influence" and "Body of Influence" options (Look them up in the Help, they are similar to the density box in ICEM CFD in that they allow you to set a max size in a volume region without subdividing the volume).
You could also refine the mesh on that whole surface by inserting a mesh size control... But if you are actually just trying to refine the mesh normal to the wall so you can capture boundary layer flow, you should be using "inflation" rather than refinement.

Hey Danith, if your second question about splitting the volume was just to refine the mesh, go with my previous suggestion. But if you actually needed it for another reason, then you are looking for a multi-body part.
A multi-body part is all one part (zone) to the solver, but allows for multiple separately meshed bodies. You create this in DM by selecting multiple parts in the tree (hold down CTRL to select multiple) and right click to "Form New Part".

Hello ! Because i will solve my problem with OpenFoam If i create a multibody part the innner faces of the multibody part will continue to exist ? because i can't fix the boundary conditions for the inner faces !!!! |
