Hello everyone,
I'm simulating a nozzle in Ansys v18.0 and my problem is that the simulation stopps after around 40 Iterations. I have already checked a thew things and I saw that there are some White mesh elements in the CFX-Post. Is this just a problem of the display or is this actually a problem of the mesh? As far as I checked, These elements have no bad Quality. Details: - Simulation of a nozzle - Ansys v18.0 - Meshing with the Meshing Tool from Ansys v18.0 - Simple geometry - No error when updating the mesh - Simulation stopps at Iteration 40 Any help is appreciated! |

So does the calculation crash or just stop for some odd reason? Are you using Fluent to solve the case? Does the program give any warnings before ending the calculation?
You could try to visualize the same parameter in Fluent and see if it looks different. Also if it's the mesh you're concerned about, then it could be beneficial to try to adapt cells in the questionable region for instance in Fluent, which is quite straightforward and fast. |

Hello divergence,
thank you for you answer. I am actually using cfd not fluent. The calculation crashes without warnings. I was trying to refine the mesh and some of the White elements dissapeared. I will continue trying. Thank you! |

Ok, I haven't used CFX myself so I probably cannot help you further. The white cells seen in post-processing might actually be just a graphic glitch. Does CFX have some internal post-processing tools you could use to check the results?
Does the program give you a error message or does the program simply shut down without an excuse? The error message could give some CFX-savvy fellow an idea why the problem exists. |

So the solver is CFX?
the calculation crashes - have you got *.out file, or solver just get closed? if there is a crash, try to stop the solver 1 or 2 iterations before it stucks and use post-processor to find places with obvious errors - immensely high pressures, velocities, etc |

the problem is with meshing .. is it a compressible flow.. your mesh is too skewed ... y plus is also wrong
