Dear ANSYS (and CATIA) Users!
I am working on a hydraulic optmization process of a pump and I have a strange problem. I am using CATIA (R2012) to create the geometry parametrically and after that I import it to ANSYS Workbench (15.0) (in CATPart extension, with Reader). In ANSYS Mesher I create a mesh and put it into CFX. The problem is that if I change the geometry shape (e.g. I increase the fillet sizes), the adjusted named selecions in Mesher changes randomly their appropriate faces. To solve this, I found a solution: In CATIA it is possible to publish faces which appear in Mesher under the named selections. However, if I would like to publish e.g. a cylinder surface (which is one surface in CATIA), ANSYS Mesher cuts it into 2 half cylinders, and only one of them has the published name. As I said, it is a stange problem, because I found an official ANSYS tutorial video, in which it is done the same process (link), and it is worked for them. I recreated this whole video with the same geometry and with the same (visible) sets but I got the same problem (see the and pic2 attached). Could anyone help what I did wrong? Maybe I forgot to set anything? Thank you very much for any thought/help! Best regards, Michael (NHeidfeld) Last edited by NHeidfeld; January 14, 2016 at 06:43. |

Meanwhile I solved the problem. If anybody has the same trouble: before you would like to create an automated process between CATIA and ANSYS, download and setup the appropriate CAD NEXUS interface program. With this, it is working perfectly.
Have a nice day! |

Hy Mohsen,
sorry that I didnt answer earlier. Have you managed to set up the CAD Nexus? I'm afraid that it won't succeed because the CAD Nexus is not available in "ordinary" ANSYS package, you have to download it from the ANSYS support portal. I hope that you have always solved the problem Regards, NHeidfeld |
