Hi guys,

I try to create a hexaeder mesh with blocking. It worked pretty fine until I got this problem. I have two coaxial cylinders with space between them. The inner cylinder meshed fine. But the outer cylinder creates large mesh elements in the space between the cylinders. Can you tell me what the problem is? I can't figure it out.

Hi,

How did you create your blocking? Did you start from an initial blocking and split it up to obtain the inner tube blk or created 2 blk independently?
Btw you should add O-grids to improve the overall mesh quality (you have highly distorted corner elements with this H-grid blk).

I just solved the problem
You have to split the outer cylinder 3 times with the ogrid tool. You connect the vertices and then delete the inner block. That's it. I found it on this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATckaP_uWs0

Yep that's the way to go.

And in case you need to mesh the structural part as well you can add additional splits and reassociate the edges and faces, and use 2 parts for the blocking (1 for the fluid and 1 for the structural domain)
