Hi. I've been trying to successfully convert a mesh in icem to Foam. I converted the mesh to multiblock structured in icem, and then I set the solver as cfx4, and wrote the output file.
When I use the cfx4ToFoam mesh converter, I get the following output: [actmodel@r4-bcc-a010590 ansystofoamtest]$ cfx4ToFoam cfx4.geo /*---------------------------------------------------------------------------*\ | ========= | | | \ / F ield | OpenFOAM: The Open Source CFD Toolbox | | \ / O peration | Version: 1.5 | | \ / A nd | Web: http://www.OpenFOAM.org | | \/ M anipulation | | \*---------------------------------------------------------------------------*/ Exec : cfx4ToFoam cfx4.geo Date : Feb 05 2009 Time : 09:27:00 PID : 30318 Case : /mnt/hypatia/linux_home/rhel4_home/actmodel/OpenFOAM/junk-1.5/run/ansys tofoamtest nProcs : 1 // * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * // Create time Reading blocks Reading patch definitions Reading block glueing information Reading block points block 0 is a right-handed block block 1 is a right-handed block block 2 is a right-handed block block 3 is a right-handed block block 4 is a right-handed block block 5 is a right-handed block block 6 is a right-handed block block 7 is a right-handed block block 8 is a right-handed block block 9 is a right-handed block block 10 is a right-handed block block 11 is a right-handed block block 12 is a right-handed block block 13 is a right-handed block block 14 is a right-handed block block 15 is a right-handed block block 16 is a right-handed block block 17 is a right-handed block block 18 is a right-handed block block 19 is a right-handed block block 20 is a right-handed block block 21 is a right-handed block block 22 is a right-handed block block 23 is a right-handed block block 24 is a right-handed block block 25 is a right-handed block block 26 is a right-handed block block 27 is a right-handed block block 28 is a right-handed block block 29 is a right-handed block block 30 is a right-handed block block 31 is a right-handed block block 32 is a right-handed block block 33 is a right-handed block block 34 is a right-handed block block 35 is a right-handed block block 36 is a right-handed block block 37 is a right-handed block block 38 is a right-handed block block 39 is a right-handed block block 40 is a right-handed block block 41 is a right-handed block block 42 is a right-handed block block 43 is a right-handed block block 44 is a right-handed block block 45 is a right-handed block block 46 is a right-handed block block 47 is a right-handed block block 48 is a right-handed block block 49 is a right-handed block block 50 is a right-handed block block 51 is a right-handed block block 52 is a right-handed block block 53 is a right-handed block block 54 is a right-handed block block 55 is a right-handed block block 56 is a right-handed block block 57 is a right-handed block block 58 is a right-handed block block 59 is a right-handed block block 60 is a right-handed block block 61 is a right-handed block block 62 is a right-handed block block 63 is a right-handed block block 64 is a right-handed block block 65 is a right-handed block block 66 is a right-handed block block 67 is a right-handed block block 68 is a right-handed block block 69 is a right-handed block block 70 is a right-handed block block 71 is a right-handed block block 72 is a right-handed block block 73 is a right-handed block block 74 is a right-handed block block 75 is a right-handed block block 76 is a right-handed block block 77 is a right-handed block block 78 is a right-handed block block 79 is a right-handed block block 80 is a right-handed block block 81 is a right-handed block block 82 is a right-handed block Calculating block offsets Assembling patches Merging points .. John,
well, I do not understand either, but I can tell you that we used "fluent_V6" output in icem (from *.uns) and fluentMeshToFoam to import the mesh without any problem. Daniel |

Daniel,
I'll give that a try.

Hey. When you do the mesh conversions, what are all the files you have to have setup in the 'system' folder?
Can we just modify the controlDict from any solver? If this is available in the tutorials, I'm sorry for asking. |

Hi,
i tried the same for a very simple problem. I have a large box with a small cut-out at the top. This should simulate a jetfan in a large body. When i convert the mesh (HEXA or Tetra) to Fluent_V6 (Windows) and convert it with fluentMeshtoFoam or fleunt3DMeshtoFoam it seem to be wrong. When i have a look at the mesh with paraFoam the geometrie is not converted correctly, the jetfan is not visible or just a face without volume. Does anybody has a guess? Tanks to everybody for helping me |
