Dear all,
I am trying to mesh the NASA Common Research Model (CRM) using ICEM and I am struggling with the mesh near the tip. As you can observe in the "mesh_complete.jpg" the mesh displays a problem near the trailing edge since the upper cells are going downwards. From the image "mesh_bottom.jpg" the pressure side of the wing is completely fine but in "mesh_top.jpg" one can clearly see the problem. I have spent some hours trying to fix it without results. Does any of you have any idea of why this is happening? I can send the files by email (10mb) if any of you wants to take a look a it directly. Thank you in advance! |

Hello,
I know you probably have, but have you made sure you have associated everything correctly? I don’t have ICEM open in front of me right now, but you can check associations by going to the blocking tab -> right clicking on edges (I believe) and selecting ‘Show Associations’. It will then show you green or black arrows corresponding to the associations you have for your block edges. Also, check that the lines making the upper surface are a single line. |

Hi aero_head,
Thank you for your prompt response. I tried to display the associations as you explained but the edges are contained in the curve so it is hard to visualice the arrows as you can see in the attached screenshot. Kind regards. |

Sorry, there is a lot going on in these pictures.
Could you please make sure the area that is having problems is in the field of view (the top surface and its associations); ideally have 2 pictures with identical viewing angles, i.e. the one showing associations and one showing the problematic mesh are in the same configuration so we can quickly draw attention to the right area. Right now I don't think the top of of the mesh where the issue was is in the view of that image. |
