Cinek_Poland is on a distinguished road
Hello.I would like to perform a welding simulation that will most faithfully reproduce the TIG welding of pipe and elbow or to be more precise perform simulations of undercut weld defects.

Is it possible to perform a simulation showing the undercut defect in Ansys Fluent or OpenFoam?

Pipe has diameter DN 400 length 1500 mm
Elbo also has diameter DN400 (2D wg EN 10253-1: 1999). The total volume of elbow and pipe is 16451397 mm^3 . Mesh size lenght I assume 0,5 mm volume of one element is 0,5^3 = 0,125 so if I divide 16451397 by 0,125 I get
131 611 176 elements. Is this a good approximation of the number of elements? I I did not take into account the additional number of finite elements for the binder.
