Default Dissolved Oxygen in Water

Hello,

I am trying to model the mixing of oxygen in water with CFX. The oxygen is injected into a water tank in the form of bubbles. At the present time I am modeling the process as a two phase flow (gas oxygen + liquid water), but I don't know whether at the tank outlet the oxygen is in the form of bubbles or dissolved in the water. Does anybody know if is it possible (and how can it be done) to model in CFX how the oxygen is dissolved in the water? (the reason I want to know the dissolved oxygen is to compare with experimental measurements).

Thanks for your help,

Luis

Hi Luis,

You need to specify the dissolved oxygen as an additional variable. Then you can define a source term for this additional variable on behalf of a reoxygenation process, where you should let this process be dependent on the local volume fraction of air and the local concentration of dissolved oxygen.

Thanks a lot. So I need to define a multicomponent multiphase flow, with two components in the liquid phase (dissolved oxygen and water) and one component in the gas phase. Is that right?

Do you know where can I find the function definition that should be used in order to compute the transfer rate between oxygen in gas phase and dissolved oxygen in liquid phase?

Many thanks for your help,

Luis

Hi Luis,

I know it's been a long time since you post this question, I have the same problem for the moment, I have a simulation with Air In Water but i want to simulate the dissolved oxygen in the water...does the multicomponent flow approach have good results?? How you setup the parameters for this??

best regards

Mathieu
