Hello everyone,

I am trying to simulate the cooling and ventilation process within a container which houses several electrical equipment.

There are several domain that represent the electrical devices, and the heat exchangers and the fans of the HVAC devices. These are modeled as sources (energy and momentum) in subdomains contained in the corresponding domains.

In general, I have just modeled the air volumes linking them through domain interfaces, so, at the end, all the domains should form a closed air circuit. I have checked that all domains that should be connected are connected.

My problem is the error that appears when I try to run the simulation (no matter if it is in serial or parallel mode):

I have checked the ansys help and I have seen a subroutine called "CONVERT_NAME_U2S", which is similar to the one showed in the error message. It is said it is used to convert user names to solver names for different elements. However, I donīt see how the names I have used can affect to this subroutine (I have used alphanumeric characters with spaces, nothing more). The problem is the data type, which I have not modified (at least conciously).

I would really appreciate if anybody can help with this as I am stuck with this.

Thank you and kind regards.

I ahve not seen that error before and do not have much of an idea of what it means. I would just set your simulation up again in CFX-Pre again (not importing the old one, start from scratch).

Solved.

The problems were caused by the named selections defined in the mesh.

I used them as reference for the surfaces where some variables are mesaured (temperatures, flow rates, etc). Once you do not use them, the issues are gone and it works perfectly.

Thanks anyway.

What I am wondering now is if there is a way to use any other element in the same manner than the name selections. I have several domain interfaces which I use as reference for the mesaured variables, but I would like to have something that allows to reference the sides of the domain interface without changing in case you add more elements to the problem. The name selections did not vary once you have created them in mesh. Any suggestions??
