Hello everyone, I was hoping you could help me. For my university project, I am currently setting up an analysis of a 13 stage steam turbine using Ansys CFX. I have set up all of the domains and interfaces but seem to get the following warning:

In Analysis 'Flow Analysis 1' - Domain Interface 'Extraction Row 11 to Row 11': Pitch Change option 'Automatic' is not valid if side 1 or 2 of the interface has a 360 degree or greater pitch angle, zero radius, mesh faces normal and parallel to the rotation axis, or mesh faces at the hub curve (low radial or axial position) which are thin in the radial or axial direction.

All other interfaces are fine and I cannot find the issue with the interface between Extraction row 11 and Row 11.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I have heard you can manually set the pitch of the domains, how is this done?

I think it is no problem (just a warning) you can continue to run.

you should be fine. It's just a warning and not an error.
In my case I do a full 360 degree simulation and I have to chose 'none' as pitch change. My warning message is: "[...] The interface is placed at a rotor-stator interface and the pitch change option of 'None' has been selected. This option should only be used when the overall extent and shape of each side of the interface perfectly match and the surfaces are aligned with each other. It may therefore be suitable when full 360 degree or exactly equal pitch components are being analyzed."

Hi Bharath & Maxim,

Thank you very much for your input, I thought it was just a warning.

All of my other interfaces had no warnings so this just seemed weird.

Thanks again!
