Greetings,

I want to simulate inclined vibrating plate for sorting of solid particles (e.g. seeds) based on their shape. In this, I have to model a inclined vibrating plate, which I have modeled in transient structral and have given sinusoidal force as a mean to cause vibration in the inclined plate.
I tried to simulate the particles in CFX but i am not sure about it as friction is very important parameter here. Could you please suggest me how can I couple transient structural with cfx by incorporating friction coefficient between the vibrating plate and the solid particles moving on the plate.

Thank You
Gurpreet SIngh

CFX is not a suitable simulation software for this sort of model. You should look at discrete element models like EDEM (http://www.edemsimulation.com/software/) or Rocky (http://www.rocky-dem.com/)

Hi Ghorrocks,

Thank you for replying and giving me necessary directions. I will check these softwares.
Could you please tell me whether I can use surface roughness as a mean to incorporate friction in CFX?

Regards,
Gurpreet Singh

CFX has no particle to particle collision model, and no model for particle to surface collisions. So there is not much point thinking about friction models when you cannot even model frictionless contact in CFX.
