MsharyR is on a distinguished road
Hi all ,

I'm planning on doin a simulation on a tank filled with water, this tank is attached to a car. Can I do that using CFX, meaning to simulate taking turns at different speeds and see how the sloshing of the water affect the stability of the car.

I have already managed to model the tank and see how the water will behave during deceleration, but can I couple this behavior with the car which is moving at certain speed?

Gert-Jan will become famous soon enough
Instead of moving everything, you'd better add body forces to the liquid. If you know the position as function of time, differentiate it twice to obtain the acceleration as function of time. Probably in 2 directions, both perpendicular to gravity, if your lorry not only accelerates or deaccelerates but makes a left or right turn.
In the bouyancy settings, you have the gravity vector already present with 2 zero's for the perpendicular component. Here you can give in the time-dependent functions for acceleration.

If the tank is travelling at a constant velocity then its acceleration is zero. This is easy to model

The simplest way to model this is by moving the gravity acceleration vector as Gert-Jan suggests. But note that this is only an approximation when you start going around corners as it does not include all the effects of the rotation (such as coriolis forces). If you want to model these then you need to model the full motion of the tank.
