Hello, i would like to do an analysis for a gear pump My main goal is to study the trapped volume in the gear teeth when the gears are meshing. Is it possible to do this in ansys cfx? how do i setup this control volume in ansys Cfx?
Please help me, i am new to Ansys cfx.

Thank you in advance

Is the trapped volume a purely geometric thing? If so, can't you do it with a solid modelling package and no CFD is required?

If I have misunderstood you, please explain what you mean by trapped volume.

By trapped volume I mean when the space between two gear teeths traps a volume from inlet, carries it against the pump casing and delivers it to the outlet.
I need to be able to determine how much volume is being trapped and delivered to the outlet for every rotation.
If I were to do it as solid modelling, how would I go about it?
Thanks for your inputs.
