Default ICEM-2D-Blocking Problem

Hi,every 1. I got a problem in a seemingly easy 2D case in ICEM10.0. To make it easy, let's say, we draw a geometry with a size 100*200(x*y) rectangle and a 1/4 circle with a radius of 25,and a thickness of 5 inside it. I don't know how to make the blocking since the 1/4 circle is not a squre shape and is hard to get a high quality. Do you guys have any good advice, I really want to hear that, thanks! (Maybe you will find it difficult to understand the case, and if it is true, I think a picture will make it clear, due to time reason, tomorrow I will post it on some website that you can refer to)

Use an O-grid around the circle. That's what o-grids are for.

Hi,Andrew,Thank you for your suggestion.

To make it easy to understand,I have put the picture on the Web,and here is the link:

http://www.sigmirror.com/files/1925_hilyj/ICEM%EF%BC%8D2D%EF%BC%8DBlocking.bmp

However,as far as I know, before creating an O-grid, I have to associate the vertices to the corresponding geometry first, dont I? In my case, if I associate the four vertices to the 1/4 concentric circle ends, the edges around it will be twisted heavily, which is not good for creating a high quality mesh.

By the way, it's just a simplified case for the real one.In the practical case,I got over ten baffles(all 1/4 concentric circle shaped) hanging inside the ducts, which is much more complex.

I think it should not be a tough case, and I want to sovle it as soon as possible.I want to hear your advice, thanks again.

You should probably go through the Blocking tutorials...

Hi, thanks for your Thanks for your reply.I've created an O-grid,but it does not seem very ok. here is the link:http://www.sigmirror.com/files/1926_...%BC%8Dgrid.bmp Hope you can give me some advice.Thank you.

If you send me the geometry to my email, I'll do it fast. Bye.

Depending on what faces, edges, and blocks you select when making an o-grid, different grids will be formed. What you need for that case is a "L" shaped o-grid. To get that shape you should select 2 sides of a block instead of the block itself. There are 3 kinds of ogrids that can be created in 2D, L, C, and O.

Hi, Juan and Andrew,Thanks very much for your reply. I'm sorry that I've been away for about a week. To:Andrew I dont quite understand you by saying "To get that shape you should select 2 sides of a block instead of the block itself". Since I've ever referred to the ICEM help on 2D blocking, which creates quad mesh with the L-shap method. Thus, I got an inspiration of using that method to solve my problem, just as the same you have suggested. But it didn't work out very well. Since a teacher told me it's a kind of meaningless by setting the problem as a 2D case, and he suggested I set the problem directly as a 3D case. I think I should take his advice. However,Now, I got the similar problem when creating the 3D-case for the same problem. For convenience, I have put a picture of it on the web, and here is the link:

http://www.sigmirror.com/files/1940_uy7ya/Baffle%20Blocking.bmp

if you have any good advice, please tell me,thanks for all your help. By the way, if you want to take a closer look at my problem and want to see exactly the geometry(.tin) file and the blocking(.blk) file I've done, I can send a copy to you by Email, just let me know.
