Hi,

I would like to do a simulation to figure out the temperature plot over time at a point in a steel cylinder (k= 15) that has initial temperature of 23DegC. The steel cylinder will then be submerged into a very large bucket (the dimension of the cylinder is negligible compared to the size of the bucket) of very viscous fluid of k=1 with initial temperature of 20 DegC. Assume only conduction is taking place in this case.
How do I setup the Heat transfer in Solid in Comsol ? What value of initial temperature do I need to put ? and how should I assign the initial temperature of the steel ? of the fluid ?

Thank you

Hi,

I am trying to introduce the below rate equation to the comsol (Transport diluted species in porous) but after a run, I am faced with the error message regarding T being an unknown variable. how can I solve the problem?

Ca_const*exp(-Ea_const/(r_const*T))*((p-P_eq)/P_eq)*(c0-c)

In COMSOL:

Use Heat Transfer in Solids.

Set the initial temperature of the steel to 23°C (inside the solid domain).

The fluid is much larger, so treat it as a constant-temperature boundary at 20°C on the steel’s surface (use a temperature boundary condition or heat flux with
𝑇=20∘&#119862

No need to model the fluid explicitly if it just acts as a reservoir.
