Default Customized heat distribution on STL-surface

Hi everybody,

since I am quite new to Flow-3D I am currently struggeling to accomplish to following task:

My goal is to implement a heat source into a simulation that is defined on the surface of a stl-geometry that I want to import into Flow-3D. The heat distribution is defined at each vertex of the STL-model so you could think of the vertices as vectors of length 4 instead of length 3 where the 4th entry is now the heat.

I am aware that I have to use the customizable fortran files and I already read the documentation but I could not figure out how to read the vertices of the imported stl-geometry and furthermore how to assign them the desired heat input.

So what I would actually like to do is:
  • Access the vertices of the stl-geometry
  • find out in which fluid cell they are located
  • assign the heat input from the vertices inside the fluid cell to the cell
From my understanding this would generate the heat source that I would like to implement.

So does anybody already have experience with a similar setup and tell me if my approach is right. Or could anybody tell me how to access the vertices and identify them with the vertices of the original stl-file?

I'm looking forward to any helpful answers.

Thank you in advance,

David

Hi David. Did you checked the heatob.f90 file? It should have some explanation in it. Does heat source distribution uniform for the hole surface?

(ijk) is the cell identifier for the flow3d. ijksd gives you solid domain.
