Volume of Fluid Graph in Flow 3d

May I know how to read this VOF graph. Is it the volume of fluid inside the domain? I know this is very basic things, but I cannot find the answer.

What does it mean when the graph decreasing or increasing? Attached is the VOF graph that shows negative trend.
