Hi friends,

I'm doing research on the free surface tracking. I have a question on the plotting of the free surface area.

Can Flow-3D plot the free surface area in each cell in Iso-surface or in colour variable? Since we know the free surface in each cell can parallel to the mesh cell surface or have an angle between each, this will lead to a different in area of free surface in each cell. If the free surface area in each cell can be plotted in colour variable, then the curve of the free surface can be tracked easier ( personally speaking).

Thanks!

In version 9.3.2 there is a spatial output variable in FLOW-3D called 'free surface area' (not available in version 9.4 any more).

It is computed automatically whenever the sharp interface option is used and can be used as a contouring variable in 3d and 2d plots.
