Aeronautilus is on a distinguished road
I'm working on simulating the catalytic combustion of a monopropellant in a circular tube (modeled as axisymmetric), in which the propellant enters the tube as a liquid, and then vaporizes/decomposes into gaseous products at the heated wall (via a one-step Arrhenius Reaction), and then accelerates as it moves down the tube. My current settings are:
- ANSYS Fluent 18.1 Parallel
- 2D, Pressure-Based, Axisymmetric, Steady
- Laminar
- Implicit Eulerian Evaporation-Condensation, Implicit, Thermal Phase Change
- Species Transport (Laminar Finite-Rate/No TCI), Wall Surface Reactions
- Primary Phase: Constant Density Liquid
- Secondary Phase: Ideal Gas Mixture
- Phase Interactions: Symmetric Drag Law, Two-Resistance heat Transfer, Evaporation-Condensation Mass Transfer, ia-symmetric Interfacial Area
- Boundary Conditions: Mass-Flow-Inlet, Const. Temp Wall, Pressure-outlet, Axis

I am able to converge a reasonable initial solution of evaporation only with reactions off, but when I turn on reactions, after 1-2 iterations I receive the error

Node 0: Process 21252: Received signal SIGSEGV
MPI Application rank 0 exited before MPI_Finalize() with status 2
The f1 process could not be started.

Almost all the other cases I've found of this error involve a UDF calling a variable that can't be accessed. However, I do not have a UDF set up for this simulation, and thus have been unable to determine what exactly is being called that would result in this error. My best guess is that it is related to the combination of reactions and evaporation, as I can get the reactions and the evaporation to work separately, but I did not find anything in the User/Theory Guide that says these models can't be combined. I've tried running in serial, varying the URFs, and running the simulation as transient, and none have helped with convergence. When transient, the error obtained after one iteration is

Error: received a fatal signal (Segmentation fault).
Error Object: #f

Any assistance or directions to a solution would be greatly appreciated.
