how to have a define surface in boundary condition

Hello!
I am wondering if there is any way to define a surface in fluent and have it in the boundary. I need this surface ID to be able to have some post-processing over this surface. thanks. |

I cannot follow you. what do you mean by I had already one? I need to define a plane somewhere is my geometry in order to hook a UDF to it to do got some data over this plane. therefore, I need to have this plane in my boundary to be able to do this. As far as I no this not possible with ISO clip. if yes, please give me more information. thanks again. |

I finally understand what you mean. You want to manipulate the surface like a face thread. This page (http://www.eureka.im/1348.html) should meet your needs.

Hello again!
I think you don't got the point! I have the UDF, but I want to know, if there is any type of the surfaces, planes or whatever which we can define in the fluent, and then this surface listed in the boundary condition? exactly same as when ones define this surface before the meshing. thanks. |

I do not think so, and I do not understand that for post-processing why should this surface on the boundary list? The boundaries are used to establish relationship between adjacent cells during the calculation.

Try this:
1) Go to display mesh dialogue box. 2) At the bottom, you will see the list of all the surfaces. If you select a surface and click on display, only that surface will be visible. This way you can get the name of your surface. 3) Alternatively, try naming the surface in mesher, and thus it should be easier to find the surface name. Is this what you are looking for? OJ |
