Hello to all,
I would like to perform 2D CFD analysis of Contra rotating open rotor. I am planning to use Ansys FLUENT as the solver. I have some query in modelling. There are several method to model the turbomachinary flows such as Multiple rotating frame, Mixing plane method and Sliding mesh technique. Among this mixing plane method seems to produce quicker results since it treats the flow as steady state. Sliding mesh technique seems to produce better results than all the model with the expense of high computational cost. Is Mixing plane techinique is only valid for Stator-rotor cobination? Can we use for Contra rotating open rotor also. I have seen in several research papers where they have done 3D computation of contra rotating rotor. In non of the journal they have not mentioned about the airfoil geometry that they have used for creating the blade shape. I would like to start 2D analysis of contra rotating rotor. Please can anyone tell me how can I start the creation of geometry for 2D analysis and which type of simulation can I do (Multiple rotating frame or Mixing plane method or Sliding mesh technique). Please help me in this regard.
