Particle Trajectory Calculation in DPM

Default Particle Trajectory Calculation in DPM

In discrete phase modelling, particle trajectory is calculated by integrating the particle force balance equation (attached) . In the particle force balance equation, the drag is given by a formula (attached). Does any one know how is this formula for drag force derived?
