i m trying to calculate lift of a cylinder in a 2D flow using viscous laminar model but i m not getting correct magnitude of the answer.. i doubt the system is not using the correct governing equation... how do i know what governing equation fluent is using in viscous laminar model and how can i modify it if required??

have a look at the manuals and you will know what equations fluent solves and also make sure you are supplying all the variables in the right unity. If still you think it is not what you want, you need to write a UDF for the scalars you want to transport and add all the physics through source term.

the you define the density of you material, you can specify which kind of flow it is (compressible, incompressible, real gas, ideal, etc.).
