Hello,
Like title, I am writing to get some advice to get mass flow rate in 2D. As I searched, I found below.. mass flow rate in 2D = mass flow rate in 3D/surface area * 1m * L (L : inlet edge length) But I have got wrong and different result comparing to 3D case. Would you share your solution and experience? Thank you |

Hi, check if your reference value for the depth is set to something different than 1m. That is the quantity fluent uses for the missing dimension.
However, I guess you wouldn't expect the flow rate to be as in a 3D case, or how far off are you? Cheers, M. |

Thank you for your valuable answer, M.
The reference value of depth is 1m. In 3D case, flow movement is verified by experimental result. Although there is no issue on this simulation, I need to model many cases with 2D case. I do not know why but.. I calculated velocity from mass flow rate and inlet area, and imposed velocity inlet. But the result was also different. This case is incompressible, so the result should be same, I guess. By the way, I will check inlet area, mass flow rate and volume flow rate through surface integral. Thank you. Young. |
