Description:
I would like to simulate the "film distribution" about spraying water droplets on a solid wall. I used "Discrete Particle Model" with solid cone and enable the wall film model. I also set the target wall "trapped" in the DP tab and initialize the eulerin wall with the minimum thickness to 0. The results show that "Eulerin wall film particles:absorbed = 1080, stripped = 0, separated = 0". It means that fluent did detect the particles. However the film thickness was all 0 along the target wall.

Question:
Can I use DPM and EWF to model the film thickness? Did I lost some important steps?
Should I use VOF model and EWF instead?

Hi,

unfortunately I cannot give you an answer, but I am familiar with that problem...
I have two very similar simulations one with a film having no thickness and one film with a "plausible" thickness.

By now I cannot say what the difference in the settings might be. One case was set up by me, one by my student, but apparently the setting is identical - at least the setting for DPM and EWF, so where else could be the problem?

Anyone with any idea?

Cheers
Martin
