Hi i have question,
Does 2d mesh to fluent must have a physical volume? F.e minimal thiknes? Can i import to fluent 2d surface mesh with 0 thikness? (one layer of elements but without a physical thick) when i import to solver from ansys meshing this type of mesh i have errors,so that i cant make a 2d analysis.

I know that cfx recognize 2d mesh only with a physical volume, so in fluent is similiar problem?

No Fluent's 2D mesh is a true 2D mesh. You just need to figure out what you're doing wrong in Ansys mesher. Are you actually using the ansys mesher or ICEM? Don't confuse a surface mesh, which is generally a CAD tesselation, with a 2D mesh.

thanks for reply,im using ansys meshing

My first problem was im not place model on correct plane. Model must be on x-y plane, before starting case on properities in workbench im not turn on 2D mode. It is important to turn on this option`s before starting case, and meshing.

Also i have question wchich behavior in ansys meshing in geometry tab is the best for CFD? Axial-symmetric?

ofcourse i know that its depend on Case, for straight pipe - axial symmetric, i think, for flat plates or square channels probably plain strain.

And for what is plane strain? In CFD f.e for analizing cross setcion where z dimension is also important?
