Hello everyone. Im was looking for internet but i cant uderstand the problem on my case.

So i need two things to get a better uderstanding of my problem. im looking for easy explanations

First one: what its the meaning of residuals?

And why in this case my residual looks like its gonna diverge but the solution drops down fast and converge? on the second image you can see that i get a jum on continuity from 1e+2 and converge to 1e-4.
