Hi all,

I have a case with two separated volumes A&B. I want to use k-omega-SST in volume A and RSM in volume B. Is that possible in Fluent? If so, can someone tell me how to do that?

Are your volumes disjoint or connected? If they are disjoint, just run them separately.

The short answer is no, at least not within the same .case file. You'd have to connect them across simulations, which is similar to running them separately. The reason this is not allowed, is because the algorithm to chop up the mesh when you run in parallel doesn't know which physics belongs to each region. Assuming you could chop up the mesh, then you have a load balancing problem that is better avoided.

It concerns a case with hot gas and cold water separated by a conducting metal wall.

Fluent allows to run a certain region in Laminar. Also it knows which domain is solid or fluid. Or gas with varying properties versus water with constant properties. Therefore, physics are varying throughout my case anyway.

It is possible to setup domains with different physics in CFX via a beta function. I was hoping something similar was available in Fluent.
