Implementation of porous media in Fluent

Hello,

I am modelling a flow through a porous media in fluent. But, I have data from Converge CFD files. The source.in file in Converge gives permeability coefficients in kg/m^4. In Fluent, my inputs are viscous resistance and Inertial resistance. What is the relation between the two of them?

You need some familiarty with the Darcy-Forchheimer law which gives the pressure drop through the porous media. A lot of solvers use only the simpler Darcy's law (without the forchheimer term, but Fluent uses both).

See 7.2-4 and 7.2-2 in the Fluent manual.

The mu is the viscous resistance coefficient and alpha is the permeability. The C2 is the inertial resistance coefficient (and this term is not accounted for in many solvers).

I'm not familiar with CONVERGE but probably they use a mu and the permeability and have 0 for the inertial resistance. You'd better look it up and compare.
