Default Axial Symmetric Flame Modeling with Radiation

I am looking to a radiation analysis of a simple vertical propane jet flame. Can a 2D geometry (axial symmetric) be used in conjunction with the fluent radiation models to determine the thermal radiation to a target a set distance away? Or do I have to do a full 3D geometry?
