Hi everybody,

I have a doubt about the "reference values" in FLUENT.

I want to simulate flow at the level backward facing step geometry, as shown in the attached pictur
backword.png

-Area ???

-Length???

-Depth????



All your advice I would be very grateful.

The reference values are for post-processing only, they don't affect the solution. You can ignore them.

If you are trying to calculate something like drag coefficient, lift coefficient, heat transfer coefficient, Nusselt number, etc. then you'll need to provide reference values. The correct reference values to choose are in the definition of each of these post-processed quantities. If you have doubts, consult their definitions.
