Hello,
For the past few weeks my Fluent shuts down unexpectedly during simulations and the only files that are tow .txt files called 'fluent-0-error' and 'fluent-999999-error', which contain the following: Error [node 0] [time 7/31/20 13:47:30] Abnormal Exit! and Error [node 999999] [time 7/31/20 13:47:30] Abnormal Exit! It happens with different meshes and at different times of the simulation, I haven't found any consistency yet. I am running a transient simulation of a VAWT on Ansys 2020 r1 student license via my university. My laptop is a HP Pavilion with Core i7 10th gen. processor and 8GB RAM. In the simulation, there is a 2.5m VAWT rotating on a 'rotating domain', rotating at with 15.71 rad/s. The rotating domain is 1.5 times the VAWT diameter. The fixed domain around the rotating domain is 5 times the diameter of the VAWT in each direction, except for the downwind which is 10 times the diameter Around that is a fixed domain of 5 times the diameter. Please see attached some snips from my current mesh, it is limited at 250,000 nodes at the academic license and with this mesh, I have 246,758 nodes and 243,712 elements with a maximum skewness of 0.773081. I have tried all three MPI types and have tried as well to use 2 solver processes and/or 1 GPGPU (I have Nvidia MX250, as far as I'm aware that is not supported so I ussually run with zero GPGPUs per machine, I don't see any difference in speed/issues when turning putting GPGPUs at 1). I am running the SST k-omega model and for boundary conditions I have - Inlet: velocity inlet, settings; 6 m/s, 0 Pa, Turbulence intensity 0.1%, Turbelent Viscosity Ratio 10 - Outlet: pressure outlet; Gauge pressure 0 Pa, backflow TI 0.1%, backflow TVR 10 - Symmetry on both the top and bottom of the fixed domain - Interfaces between the fixed and rotating domain - Blades: moving wall relative to adjacent zone 0 rad/s, rotational. And after doing the mesh interface, it creates the interface_fixed-non-overlapping and interface_rotating-non-overlapping which are both wall, with the rotating one set as moving wall equal to the blades. Hope with this information, someone is able to help or advice on what to try next. If there is any more information required, please let me know. |

Hi
I have hit this problem now. It has suddenly appeared, as I did not have this issue earlier. How did you resolve it? Could it be because of overheating of the computer? Regards |
