I want to do a parametric study on an aerofoil. But I want my parameters to be the dimensions of the aerofoil, is this possible?

Thanks

Yes it is possible, but you need to prepare a parametric airfoil geomtry first

Ok great, is this done in design modeller or spaceclaim? Do you know if this is possible using PyFluent too?

Back in the days ( i did soemthing similar few years ago) I prepared it in Siemens NX. It is possible to directly hook it to the workbench.

But both design modeler and spaceclaim work. dunno about pyFluent.

Can the geometry be imported from solidworks or does it have to be made in design modeller?

I think it should be possible to import it from solidworks, but it has to be made parametric in solidworks and there are special steps to make so that the parameters are recognized by the workbench.

If you google solidworks ansys workbench I see a lot of different videos

Fantastic, been a great help! Know I know this is possible, is it possible to change the diameter and location of a cylinder at the leading edge of the aerofoil in this way too?

whatever your CAD allows you to do, you can then do parametric study on.
