Hi,

I have a plate with holes in it modeled as a porous zone. It cannot be alligned by x, y or z -axis. I specified the direction vector (perpendicular on the surface of the plate). So I specified the flow resistance of the plate in the direction of this vector. Should I specifiy the flow resistance in the other two directions (so in the plane of the plate) as infinite or zero? Since no fluid can flow in these directions (inside de plate), should it be infinite?
Thanks.

Hi Klavoir

In the case of a perforated plate the fluid cannot move in those directions, so your idea seems correct. I would set a resistance value of many orders of magnitude higher than that of the main direction.

However, in the case of perforated plate, I prefer to use the porous jump BC: it 's more robust and improves convergence.

Hi,

I agree, a porous jump is the preferred option here. Thanks for your reply.
