DEar people,
Im trying to input volumetric heat generation inside the annulus of a duct..this annulus lies inside a larger duct of 8cm in length and 4 in radius. The thickness of the annulus is 0.5cm and the radius of the tube the annulus is encompassed in is 1cm.. This means my model is a larger duct with a smaller duct(with an annulus) inside it. When i input the volumetric heat generation inside the annulus, temperature profile only shows heat inside the annulus..how come the heat is not distributed to the surrounding..mening to the surroundung of the larger duct? Plz someone help me...Im in a dilemma... Thnx |

take a closer look at the settings for the wall separating the flows.

Hi,
Yes, i did...the settings for the wall separating the flows include wall and its wall shadow.. I input coupled values of the volumetric heat generation. This means that i inout the volumetric heat generation for both the solid region(the annulus) and its walls.. Hope u udnerstand wht im saying.. puck |

I don't understand where exactly your heat is generated.
If you have a heat source in your wall, you should apply it to the wall and to the shadow. Take care: the total heat source is the sum of what you give to the wall and to the shadow. If it is really the wall where the heat is generated, i'd sugest to create the case with a real finite thickness wall (a real solid region) If the heat is generated inside the small duct, you just have to set both wall and shadow to 'coupled'. The temperature will be coupled, and as such there will be thermal transport. good luck, Laika, still orbiting |

Thnx a lot for your reply...
My volumetric heat generation is only inside the solid region of finite thickness(annulus)...the wall and its shadow is created when i apply solid continum in gambit. So, from wht u are saying, i gather i have to just input the volumetric heat generation into the solid region and leave the wall conditions as coupled without inserting the same amount of heat generation in its walls rite? Hope u understand me well this time.. Your help is really greatly appreciated... Thnk you.. |

That's right. Apply a volumetric heat source in the wall, and set the thermal condition for both walls and both shadow-walls as coupled. This should work fine,

okie thnx... so just to confirm, im putting a volumetric heat source in the solid region(annulus)..and letting its walls and wall shadow as coupled...
By the way, what is periodic flow..Do i have to use that for my model...? i want the heat to be mixed with the surrounding duct(the larger duct). |
