Hi,

I am using a combination of "Hummingbird Connectivity" and "SSH secure shell" to run fluent through the local UNIX machines at my university. Gambit works fine without any display problems. However, when I try to open display window in Fluent, I get the following error message: "Error message from graphics function how_Device_Info: Server does not have GLX extension." If you have encountered similar problem before, will you kindly suggest a remedial measure.

Many Thanks, Alex

Try starting fluent as follows:

fluent -driver x11

What versions of the above software do you have?

I have tried it running fluent via ssh and both Hummingbird eXceed 7.1 and cygwin/XFree86 and it works fine with both.

What do you get if you run xdpyinfo after you have connected to the unix machine. It should give you a list of the server extensions that are available on your X server.

Fluent doesn't need the GLX extension (which is not part of eXceed) but will use it if it's there. (which it is with cygwin/XFree86)

Hi Rob,

Thank you so very much for educating me about the source of the error. Though I still haven't solved the problem, knowing what is causing it makes me feel much better.

I have answered your questions regarding versions of progammes used (see below). I would be delighted if you can come up with a way to circumvent this problem. In any case, I am very thankful for what you have done.

Alex

Hummingbird Exceed: Ver. 7.1.1.0

SSH Secure Shell: 3.1.0 [Build 235]

Fluent: Release:6.1.22

Graphics Version: 7.07-1

List of extensions include:

BIG-REQUESTS

DOUBLE-BUFFER

Extended-Visual-Information

HCL-DOS-Access

HCLMISC

HCLxperf

LBX

SECURITY

SHAPE
